Undergraduate Courses

Biomedical Informatics

Basic cycle (900 hours): mandatory classes that provide a solid theoretical basis in mathematics, computing and biology.
General cycle (420 hours): mandatory classes in Statistics, Biological Sciences and Health Sciences specifically aimed at biomedical informatics.
General professional cycle (840 hours): mandatory classes for mastery of the concepts of computing’s sub-areas and biomedical informatics’ sub-areas emphasized by the course – bioinformatics, medical image processing and health information systems.
Compulsory additional cycle (600 hours): 480 hours of extracurricular activities and 120 hours of course completion work.
Optional additional cycle (240 hours): optional disciplines that allow students to deepen themselves into subjects according to their interests and aptitudes.

Graphic Expression

Basic cycle (615 hours): mandatory classes that provide basis in design, geometry and mathematics.
Specific cycle (1,425 hours): mandatory classes for mastery of graphic expression’s sub-areas – furniture design, architectural design, mechanical design, product design, prototyping, geometry or computer graphics.
Mandatory additional cycle (360 hours): 180 hours of course completion work and 180 hours of supervised compulsory internship.
Optional complementary cycle (240 hours): optional disciplines that allow students to deepen themselves into subjects according to their interests and aptitudes.
Extracurricular activities (120 hours): elective classes, non-mandatory internship, academic monitoring, scientific initiation, extension activities, distance education, student representation, special training program (PET), junior company, etc.

Industrial Mathematics

Basic cycle (1,110 hours): mandatory classes to prepare for advanced mathematics, exact sciences and computer science.

Professional cycle (830 hours): optional classes to theoretical and practice preparation (Optimization, Numerical Analysis, Operational Research, Applied Mathematics Methods, Algorithms and Advanced Data Structure).

Mandatory complementary cycle (260 hours): 200 hours of supervised internship and 60 hours of completion work.

Optional complementary cycle (300 hours): optional disciplines that allow students to deepen themselves into subjects according to their interests and aptitudes.

Extracurricular activities (300 hours): elective classes, non-mandatory internship, academic monitoring, scientific initiation, extension activities, distance education, student representation, special training program (PET), junior company, etc.

Professional cycle (2,575 hours).

Complementary cycle (320 hours): optional disciplines that allow students to deepen themselves into subjects according to their interests and aptitudes.

Physics (licentiate)

General professional cycle (1,290 hours): mandatory classes divided into 960 hours of theory and 330 hours of practice.

Specific professional cycle (1,140 hours): mandatory classes divided into 390 hours of theory, 315 hours of practice and 435 of internship.

Complementary cycle (180 hours): optional disciplines that allow students to deepen themselves into subjects according to their interests and aptitudes.

Computer Science

Basic cycle (900 hours): mandatory classes condensed on the first three semesters. Provides solid theoretical basis of mathematics and computer science fundamental concepts.

General cycle (180 hours): mandatory classes in order to master several aspects of computer science’s subareas, as fundamentals, basic techniques and others.

Professional cycle (1,080 hours): classes that complement the formation, giving the students an opportunity to approach themselves of the job market, to acquire new experiences and skills outside the university or to develop a research.

Optional additional cycle (360 hours): optional disciplines that allow students to deepen themselves into subjects according to their own interests and aptitudes.

Extracurricular activities (480 hours): elective classes, non-mandatory internship, academic monitoring, scientific initiation, extension activities, distance education, student representation, special training program (PET), junior company, etc.

Statistics

Basic cycle (1,590 hours): mandatory classes that provide the basis of mathematics, computer science, probability, statistics and computational statistics.

Specific cycle (540 hours): mandatory classes that apply the basic knowledge acquired, mainly in the fields of bio-statistics, industrial process control and actuarial sciences.

Mandatory complementary cycle (270 hours): completion of coursework.

Optional complementary cycle (300 hours): optional disciplines that allow students to deepen themselves into subjects according to their interests and aptitudes.
