Objectives related to the characteristics of the scientific production generated within the Program
PPGECM/UFPR seeks to promote the development of scientific production committed to:
- creating pathways that encourage the democratization and dissemination of scientific knowledge in different social strata, highlighting the relationships between Science, Technology, Society, Environment, and Quality of Life, as well as the relationships between the scientific knowledge of the History and Philosophy of Science and Mathematics;
- highlighting the role of science in the contemporary world, transforming Science Education and Mathematics Education into spaces for cultural formation and citizenship education, contributing to broader debates on the democratization of society and improving individuals’ living conditions.
Objectives related to the general profile of the researcher to be trained
PPGECM/UFPR aims to train researchers capable of:
- producing knowledge from the perspective of scientific and technological production committed to quality of life, social inclusion, and the construction of a democratic school;
- developing and leading collective projects for the dissemination and critique of scientific and technological culture;
- designing and implementing projects that produce productive and contextualized relationships between Science, Technology, Society, Environment, and Human Development, based on scientific research processes and solid theoretical foundations;
- generating knowledge that contributes to the teaching profession, grounded in philosophical, historical, pedagogical, and sociological knowledge;
- enabling students to pursue academic careers and to become “trainers of trainers,” thus going beyond their own professionalization.
Objectives related to the specific profile of the researcher to be trained at the Doctoral level
The Doctoral program at PPGECM/UFPR has the following objectives:
- • to train researchers in Science Education and Mathematics Education with sufficient theoretical foundation and autonomy to lead research projects and promote socio-educational actions aimed at scientific and technological development committed to improving people’s quality of life and the environment;
- • to develop collective projects that enable the structuring of content, experiences, and curricula for Science and Mathematics Education, creating conditions that encourage the dissemination of scientific and technological culture through innovative scientific education aligned with society’s broader needs.
